Hi Emmiee94 . Congrats you must be happy! I've recently finished prostap too and now in limbo waiting for everything to kick back in. Were you on the monthly injections or every 3 months? Did you have any symptoms with the drug leaving your body? Not really sure whether what I am going through is normal so would be good to hear other experiences.
Thank you 😊 I was on the monthly injection for 6months coming off it I noticed the pain would trickle back but only slightly, my hot sweats were gradually getting fewer as I'm sure you would be glad to know completely gone now 😂
Just remember everyone is different so if it does take a shorter/-longer time to come on your period don't stress.
Any more questions I'm willing to aunswer 😬⭐️
Hi there were you on HRT too? I can't find out when to stop the HRT, my sixth and last implant was 4th September. My GP advice was that I shouldn't be on HRT. Not terribly helpful!! I'm hoping I don't have a period for another 3 months - it's been bliss not having to deal with those every month 👍🏻
I have stage 4 endo. I had prostap for 3 months (monthly injections) - finished about 6 weeks ago. No sign of period yet. I love the fact that I've been pain free for 4 months BUT because the prostap stops all hormone production (as you know) you are launched very suddenly into a menopausal state of hut flushes (which I could cope with) but this awful dark hollow feeling and depression also came with it. I would be struck with waves of hollow emptiness (not sure how to describe it - but it is like no feeling I'd ever felt before / or more like a 'lack of feeling ' perhaps). But my husband was worried - so I went back to the gynae who said that this 'depression' can happen - and she put me on a low dose of oestrogen patches to take alongside the prostap injections. The patches took a few weeks to kick in - but really helped lessen the prostap side effects - and I still seem to be pain free. I'm sure not everyone has the same experience of the prostap though. Good overall. Just had MRI though and they say the endo is on my bowel, and everywhere. They have suggested a pelvic evacuation- but apparently a 1 in 5 chance of a colostomy bag afterwards. That terrifies me - I don't think I want surgery! But not sure what the implications would be if I don't have it. A lot to think about. Thinking of all of you out there.
Oh gosh, I hope you make the best decision for you, have they not brain stormed any other options, you should really have all options before you make this decision. I hope all goes well, keep us updated xx
Are you being seen at a BSGE centre? If not then you need to get a referral, a general gynaecologist shouldn't be touching endo on the bowel. The BSGE centre specialists who have extra training in this will do the op with a colerectal surgeon and hopefully minimise the chances of you needing a bag. Good luck with your treatment. X
Thank you Emiee and Paula. Other than Prostap and pelvic evacuation- no other options were on the table - but good point Emiee, I will ask. Paula thank you so much for that advice about a BSGE centre. I did wonder whether a bowel specialist would be better doing it. I have an appointment with a Mr Fifi (gynaecologist) coming up to discuss pro's and con's of surgery - so I will raise this then (never met him before). I am based in West Midlands - so if you know of any BSGE centres, please let me know. Thank you both xx
There's a map of endo centres on the BSGE website, it looks like there's just one in Birmingham bwnft.nhs.uk/services/gynae... it looks like the doctor you are seeing is part of this team and there are also colorectal surgeons too. Good luck with everything. X
