Has anybody travelled abroad for treatment? I know there is a world renowned doctor in New York.

Hi,

I unexpectedly got treated abroad due to an emergency, I know its not the same thing exactly.

I was travelling round the Netherlands & my ovary ruptured so I was rushed to Rotherdam hospital where they glued it back together via a Lap & also removed my Endo while there. I lost 4 pints of blood internally. The surgeon was an Endo specialist (luckily)

They sent me back to UK few days later in an ambulance across countries. That was a very painful, long journey but I was grateful for all they did. Language barrier was an issue at times!

Wow, that sounds awful. I hope you are doing ok now x

There are several good ones in nyc, which one are you talking about specifically. You can just use his/her initials

Mr T S. But I am sure there are good people here. We have just seen some really horrible unempathic, unsupportive consultants and he seems so lovely in his book.

yes he is lovely. I was operated on by him and we are friends now. I can even text him with my problem and he would reply. I live in New york city

Any reason whyyou wish to go abroad? If you Ade willing to pay have a look at Spire Elland in West Yorks. Private BSGE endo centre. The surgeon is highly recoommeded.

Thanks for your reply, I think I am just going a bit crazy thinking about how to get help.....we can't really afford it anyway. It's just that I read TS's book on treating endo and he seems so patient focused and supportive.

Have a look on the Elland hospital website there are links from there to the surgeons own websites which are very useful and informative. Its just a shame he no longer does NHS just private. Insurance will cover some of his costs but the shortfall is still a lot. I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy done by him and have been told I have endo on everything, only stage 2 at the moment, he also informs me that I need a hysterectomy as I have adenomyosis as well as multiple fibroids, also had a polyp removed. He tells me I have a very unhealthy womb!!. It might be worth your while just seeing him for a consultation, which is very thorough and is not at all rushed, I was in for over an hour. Depending on where you are in the country I think he consults out of Harley Street as well as West Yorkshire, although all procedures are done in West Yorkshire. Hope this helps.
