Hi everyone. I am having surgery in October to remove endo from cervix, ovaries, bladder, bowel and rectum. I have been advised I am going to need a temporary colostomy bag, I am wondering if anyone has had a similar procedure and how long is "temporary"? I was maybe thinking a couple of weeks but upon reading online I am now thinking much longer? Xx

Hiya. I have just had that type of surgery. My temp bag was for 3 months to allow my bowels to heal. Its major surgery. Although its alot to adjust to, the stoma nurses are all lovely. Now im pain free and able to be a mother and wife which i didnt think was possible. Hang in there, u will be fine x

Hi I had to have a temporary one for 4 months, I had no warning either as they didn't know how bad it was effecting my bowel.

It is hard to get your head around but the stoma nurses are just amazing and slowly you just adjust and realise it's not that bad.

I'm having another op in a couple of weeks and will need another temporary bag for around 6 months this time.

Good luck and honestly you'll be fine no one even knew I had one until I told them xxxxx

Can you walk in public with a colostomy bag (pouch)? I fear I might need one and I'm kind of freaking out when I see it's typical to have it for three months. Why do you need to wear it for so long? Please, that would be very reassuring. Hope I won't end up having to get a temporary one but chances are high and I've been unlucky so far!
