Just been diagnosed with Endometriosis and Anedomysis, have the pre induced menopause injection on Friday plus starting HRT I'm 39, had my kids and I feel horrific every day, pain, fatigue, don't know what am doing! Read up on this option and it doesn't look great can anyone advise? Does the needle hurt as I also have a phobia

Advise :-(
I'm having the injection atm, for endometreosis and had a hysterectomy last July for adenomyosis which is the only cure for adenomyosis, if I was you I would get a refferal to a bsge specialist centre if not with one already. Have you had a ny endometreosis removed/excised??
The consultant says things are that bad I have two options the injection and HRT for 6-12 months then a hysterectomy or straight in for the hysterectomy! She says this is a test to see how I go on
Is it a bsge specialist centre you are with, as even if you have a hysterectomy for adenomyosis if the endometreosis isn't dealt with properly then you could still have endo pain , like me, I'm now awaiting a 3rd op to see if any was missed, I'm now with a bsge centre😉
I'm not with a centre the consultant wants to remove everything if I go for the hysterectomy but says doing this will test how I would deal with HRT before going straight in for the surgery
Oh god what a nightmare it's no fun being a women is it how many injections have you had? Are they painful? Does it help at all with your monthly pain?
I would go back to gp a request a refferal to a bsge specialist centre. Do you know where your endo is,??
Ive had 4 now, and it hasn't helped me much tbh. I get pain most days, x
I've done really well on the injections. It's really reduced my pain while I wait for a lap to excise an endometrioma. The injections don't hurt at the time although the area can be a little sore for the rest of the day. Completely worth it for me though for the pain reduction X
Thank you so much I'm scared but it's worth a try to stop the pain! Just worried about all the side effects x
I have had 5 injections now and like janine said the actual injection doesn't hurt but I find where it was done can be a tiny bit red and itchy after but soon goes. At first I gad some relief from the stabbing pains but no relief from the back aches and after about 4.5 months the stabbing pains have started to return. Everybody is different and for some people they get complete relief.
Like tboag says, you need to get a referral to a bsge specialist. Have a look for a lady called Lindle on here as she has posts about how to get a referral. If you can afford about £200 then you can have the initial consultation privately and then move onto the specialist's nhs list after that.
All the best X
Hi, you should definitely asked to be referred to an approved centre. Even if you have an hysterectomy, if the endo has spread to other areas like your bowel, bladder then they could be left behind. You will need a multi disciplinary team to work on you. Also, having a full hysterectomy is very radical and may not be the answer to your pain as some woman say they still have it afterwards. Please get referred, you have a right to request this, then get the best advise for you before making any decisions. If you don't mind me asking, How were you diagnosed? Have you had a laporscopy as this is the only accurate way for them to look at see how much endo they are dealing with before they operate? I've just had all of mine removed (from bowel, bladder, pelvic ligaments etc), I had the 3 monthly injection of decepetyl in January 12 weeks before my op. The actual injection is over in seconds, it might sting for a second but honestly it's nothing to worry about. For me personally I have found the effects hard to deal with as I couldn't have HRT (hot flushes, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue), so I'm waiting for it to wear off, but everyone is different. Perhaps if you want to try it ask for the monthly injections so you don't get so much for your body to cope with in one hit, as once it's in you you've got to ride it out until it wears off. Bear in mind though, that if they say it lasts 1 month or 3 months it actually can take more than twice that time for the effects to subside. I'm 6 months on from my 3 monthly injection and I'm still in full menopause. Xx
Thank you so much for your advise I really appreciate it, I have had an ultra sound and internal scan so far I have really bad periods and clots, I have pains in my pelvis shooting down my legs I have a polycystic right ovary and polips plus a tilted womb! I have blood gathering in the muscle of my womb and signs of endometriosis in my uterus it's great being women isn't it x
Hello
I've had 2 zoladex monthly injections and they don't hurt at the time and usually that day I'm pain free as there is an anaesthetic in the jab. Best bit of them for me as I don't think I've had much pain reduction. Try Menopace for the side effects. I find that works well. You can get from boots or Holland & Barrett.
I'm told by others that having injections before hyster can be a good way around as endo can be killed off before the operation so much less to deal with when they are in there - doesn't always work for everyone but sounds it's worth a try!
Also do get referred to BSGE clinic or find a specialist based at one and take a private referral. I had a total hysterectomy & both ovaries out and endo pain is worse following op than before as done by General gynae who believed endo would die off having removed ovaries. It doesn't work like that!!! I've since had one lap to remove but clearly didn't get all so I'm now going to see BSGE clinic to get sorted properly. I just didn't know they existed before & my GP is rubbish and just keeps telling me to get used to the pain as I'll have to live with it forever. I just don't believe any thing she says anymore!!
Take care & good luck.
