Afternoon all, Wonder if anyone could please help.
Does anyone know if Endo is classed as a disability or not. I am having major issues at the workplace, as if it's all my fault for having this illness!! and I'm trying to look into as much information on this as possible.
Any help would be most appreciated

No unfortunately Endo is not classed as a disability even though it is a debilitating condition. However no employer can discriminate based on illness regardless. If your consultant is prepared to they may write to your employer if you ask but not all will.
I've been hitting sickness triggers at work with my endo. I've been taking my union rep into the sick meetings with me. There are only a couple of conditions that are categorised under disability act (equality act now) by name. My union rep (more than 1 of them) believe I'm covered by the act due to the wording of the act and description of its meaning. Basically it's the effect it has on your day to day life. I can't remember it word for word. I'm doing everything I can to alleviate the effects endo has on me and my place of work has to prI've it has placed reasonable adjustments for me to still be in work.
I'd say join a union, print off as much info and leaflets off the endo UK site and take them into work. When I'm suffering I give people a very direct description of my symptoms and effects it has on my body. They soon turn green and regret not believing me.
I've seen a pain management clinic who has written a letter advising different role for when I'm in pain. Also occupational health have also written a letter saying the same thing.
You poor soul, unfortunately we have no such thing in this office.. I have found so much information so fingers crossed it all goes to plan. Having so many issues with this person at work and unfortunately cannot place a grievance as shes the one that deals with them xx
Hello, I work for a local authority and my endometriosis means I am protected by the equality act of 2010 and I get up to 10 days disability related sick leave. If you do some research on the equality act, you should be protected by this. Hope this helps xx
No endo is not recognised as a disability , Unfortunately Mr Cameron does not suffer with it I am sure if he did endo would have been a disability years ago. I lost my job through endo so I know how difficult life is for you . Best of luck.
