I had a 17cm endometrioma removed by lap. Original gynae said would be open but then the gynae I saw after said he could do it laparoscopically.

I had a cyst 8 cm big and it was removed by lap by a super good specialist in Leeds. But I also had stage 4 endo on many other places. So the lap is the best option because they can see better.

The main thing for you in to be in the hands of best possible doctor.

I also had an 8 cm diameter endometrioma drained laproscopically. I don't think the size alone would make yours too big for a lap, but only your doctor would be able to know whether there's other reasons that might make open surgery necessary. Good luck!
