Im due my laparoscopy soon and my consultant has mentioned he'll be putting me on hormones post-laparoscopy. Just wondered if any of you could inform me of the different hormones you've been on and the impacts (good and bad) that they've had on your condition. I'm hoping it will give me a better idea of what to expect depending on what he suggests.
Thanks, Liv

What kind of hormones will you get? My lap was 3 months ago and I had to take medicine to start a 'fake' menopause. I've just finished that treatment. Next to that I have to take the pill for 3 more months now (next to my Mirena, so I won't ovulate).
It had quite some side effects for me. I gained weight, had to deal with moodswings, my skin looks terrible still and a lot of hair loss.
I honestly think these are caused by the menopause ones though, because I never had these issues with the pill.
Because I haven't finished the treatment I can't tell you about the outcome yet. I noticed that my daily pain returned a little, but I'm not sure if that is caused by quitting the menopause pills or because I'm taking new pain killers.
I had zoladex treatment. Like the previous replier it put me into a fake menopause. It was ok at the time when I was on it as my pain drastically reduced. However the side effects were ridiculous. I lost a lot of hair, it went crazily thin and straggily and I gained weight despite not eating a huge amount more. Additionally it took my ovulation a good 7/8 months to come back following the treatment. Just depends what your plans are "longer" term.... As in within the next year or so x
