Frustrated and would love some support and advice.

Hello everyone,

I'm feeling really frustrated and annoyed at the moment.

I had an lap about 18 months ago to remove a large amount of endo in and around my pouch of douglas. Recently I have been suffering from pain again, but I don't think it's from the endo (the pain is different, and I had a ultrasound and they said they couldn't see anything.) The doctor told me that i had a large amount of scar tissue behind my cervix and some of this is attached to my womb. The pain can be a sharper sensation then period pain, and I often get a 'pulling' feeling and it is uncomfortable to drive, walk etc. I usually regularly exercise but I can't do that and things like sex are uncomfortable. Having the internal scan left me with pain for 48 hours afterwards.

I guess apart from a moan, I'm just looking for some advice from anyone whose had something similar. Would an operation to remove the scar tissue work, or would that cause just more scar tissue? I feel like the quality of my life is being affected at the moment and it's really getting me down.

Thank you.

hi there i am sorry to hear about your pain. I am pretty sure that the pain you have now is being caused by adhesions. I also had very similar pain to what you are describing and during a laparoscopy they removed the adhesions and my pain was significantly reduced to almost nothing.

however this was a short term solution as within a month my pain came back i dont know what t could be but im pretty sure it is to do with the adhesions growing back.

adhesions cause pain by pulling organ surfaces etc when u move and aggrevating nerves in the area.

Also the fact that doctors cant see anything on scans further suggesys its adhesions as these cannot be seen in any imaging testing. I know this because i had many different scans; ultrasound, xray, mri and the only time they found my adhesions was through the laparoscopy.

i dont know if i can recommend surgery to you as it may only help for a short time and cause more complications instead, for example now i am sufering from chronic bladder problems too along with my original pelvic pain, due to the catheter used giving me a very bad infection.

i would recommend trying to find some sort of physio therapist who knows techniques of freeing up adhesions!

all the best and let me know how you go and if you find any Helpful pain relief ! Xx

Dear njgir20,

Thank you so much for messaging. I'm sure what you say is true about surgery. I certainly feel like something needs to be 'loosened' or cut to stop the pulling sensation, but I know that surgery could then become a viscous cycle.

Do you have any experience of using a physic therapist for such things? My scar tissue is largely behind my cervix - could they help with this do you think?

I'm currently taking ibuprofen and co-codomol, but although it's helping a little bit, the pulling sensation is still there!

Thank you so much again.

Hey your very welcome! And no im currently a student and dont have any money to go to one but if you google the 'wurn technique' or go on youtube and type in 'massage to remove adhesions' you can get an idea of the sort of techniques used. Apparently these massages can be used to loosen and eventually break adhesion bonds and have worked well for some people.

also there is an enzyme called serrapeptase which digests protien and is supposed to apparently slowly eat away at adhesions. I have been taking these for about 3 weeks and have had no reduction in pain but apparently i takes months and months to see a difference and its only a food supplement. Maybe you could so some more research on these if u wish.

best of luck and let me know if you find something that works!
