Hi hunny, I've heard good and bad about the coil but can't coment personally, but, is your consultant using excision procedure or only laser, only apparently laser isn't as good as cutting endo out from the root, they have found it grow s back faster and more often in ladies that have laser, check with your docs secretary, I did ive got a lap on 21 St and she confirmed excision,
Good luck hunny xxxx
I think the response ladies have to the mirena coil differs hugely. Mine was quite a negative experience but I know other ladies have done really well on it. It is worth trying. It can be taken out really easily if you don't get on with it. Plus, it's best to take advantage of the general anaesthetic and get the coil put in at the same time as your laparoscopy because the coil insertion can be a painful experience otherwise, it certainly was for me.

Ihad my endo removed by lazer 5 years ago only for mine to return and actualky get worse. I am waiting on an app to look at more radical surgery as i have children and my pain is bad. I had mirena coil for 3 years. Its stopped my bleeding completely, as I bled every day of the month and very heavily at that but my pain worsened and I also had mood swings and acne. I agree with the other comment that it differs from person to person. And yes ask for it to inserted after op as I was in agony for days after mine was removed. Good Luck with surgery.
Georgina please double check and if they say laser walk away. I had laser in 2011 and it didn't work. It must be excised.
Re the coil I'm on my 3rd. 1st was put in due to heavy/painful periods and reduced them to a really light 3 day bleed every month, it only took 6 weeks to settle. It was half way through my 2nd I started experiencing endo symptoms and it took 2 years to get a diagnosis and "treatment". I was diagnosed with minimal endo and given laser surgery. The doctor proudly announced we have treated it and basically that's that. I was so happy as I thought I was cured, unfortunately this was not the case.
I had a 6 month break between coils 2 and 3. The 3rd coil has taken 7 months to settle, I've had terrible irregular bleeding, fatigue and terrible depression (I'm prone to depression so I'm not saying you will experience this). I'm on month 8. Everyone is different my first and up until half way through my second coil were a breeze and god send.
I would say its worth a try. Give it 6 months and if you are not happy then have it removed.
If you want to ask anything else please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you ladies.
He did say it wouldn't get rid of it for ever that it would come back but iam really not sure what to do.
7 years ago I was told I had it and the specialist I saw then told me to have a baby!!!! I mean how stupid was he he didn't even ask if I was in a relationship or anything plus I was still young.
Yes I have two children one of eight and one of three now.
Just really not sure what to do just feeling so down doesn't help that today is a very painful day x
