Dear ladies,

Please excuse me for the mistakes that you might find in my post as the English is my 2nd language.

Here is my story :

In October '14 I finally got some answer for my pain - bilateral endrometriosa . now, how can I control it and prevent it.

I am going to see an oncologist -gynaecologist on 24th of Feb. Till then I am not sure will I have surgery or not. How long will it will last this pain.

Now to the point- work. I live and work in London as a self employer, house cleaner day time and evenings I am studying computer science at evening Uni. Last year before Xmas and just about 2weeks ago I have been literally kicked out of work, because I need only one day to stay at home and be able to drug my self enough so next day I can go to work. I have been told that they can't secure my job because there a plenty other cleaner that can help them. Is it's happen to any of you ? Did you get such an attitude? Yet I am struggling with payments and travel cost cause I can't work when I am in pain. Painkillers they just make me sleepy and supper slow and no one want such a labour. Ladies is there any support that I can get when I am not working, or I just have to bite my pain, and go to work, lie them that I am fine ?? I do live with my mum and she can see every single convulsion when I am in pain but if I don't go to work tomorrow morning I can easily read her face " I am tired too and in pain as well but I am going to work. We have to pay the bills. " Right now I am holding the hottie bottle as since 3:30am this morning I could not stop being in pain. Tried to take a codein and paracetamol but I vomit it. Tried to eat again . Since then have not eat much and only the hot bottle hold down my pain . As soon I take it out ..boom the sticky red blood cells start banging inside my pelvic area, lower back and tummy . Please if you can help me with some more information, or point me in the right direction or simple just to say hi, feel free to do that .

Wish everyone painless evening and night.

Based on experience with trying to lie about being fine, I say don't do it. If you do push yourself too hard, you risk getting hurt on the job. That may depend on how your body reacts to pain and how much you endure too. I lost my last job because of pushing myself too hard--it was a wake-up call to respect my limits.

I know there are times when we may have no choice, but if you can, maybe talk with your employer about how your pain may effect your work. There's no shame in having to rest, it's better to do that than risk something serious :).

Thanks for the response, I am self employer and by being talk to my clients did not helped me . They says "we understand ..but you can't work here if you are not well.." I have asked at least for reference and I go as an answer as I was not able to get to work on time because of that pain.."it was not your faulty but this is fact..." Yeah endometriosis sucks :-(

Just wants to say hello and say sorry for the awful problems you are experiencing. I guess your problem is that self employed so nothing to back you up, whereas a normal employer would in most cases be obliged to pay sick pay and support you to either be off work or come back via Octpational Health. Perhaps you could look on the government website as you may be entitled to some sort of benefit or supports rom the state if your self employed and too unwell to work? Take care x
