Hi everyone, searched for the old endo board but came across this.
I have suspected endo on my ureter which is causing my kidney to swell and I'm in constant pain, the consultant wants me to have my last rounds of ivf before considering surgery again. Just worried incase the endo affects the chance of the ivf working?? xx

I'd be more concerned about kidney health in the event you get pregnant. Having an obstructed ureter is very icky. I had that with a kidney stone bout 20 years back and got very ill indeed. Not just from the stone but the fact that the kidney was in dire straights too.
Which consultant wants you to have IVF, the urologist or the gynaecologist?
Given my own experience over the years with kidney probs, I would certainly recommend you get that sorted so you are in the best shape possible for a pregnancy. the last thing you want to risk is a kidney complication during a pregnancy when you do need the kidneys working overtime to clean you out of toxins and excess chemicals that could possibly harm the baby.
Definitely get a 2nd opinion from urology consultants BEFORE undertaking more costly IVF.
It's the gynea who has suggested ivf. The urology department discharged me as my kidney is working it's just the tube that's restricted, they thought it was a kidney stone at first. The consultant said if the fit a stent or operate they could do more damage which would mean they probably couldn't try ivf. He suggested if there were problems during pregnancy they would fit a tube in my back and drain it off!! Sounds scary to me. I'm just worried that if there is lots of endo my last chances at ivf will be wasted xx
