Zoladex works by shutting down the pituitary gland in the brain and stopping it producing lots of hormones including the sex hormones needed for ovulation.

Once you stop the drug-how quickly, if ever, that pituitary gets back to producing hormones is very much a unique one for each person.

Research showed that 'on average', female patients took 6 months to restart periods.

that means half were quicker and half took longer.

What it doesn't tell you is how many women carried on ovulating throughout being on the drug, nor will it tell you of the number of women who never ovulate again because the section of pituitary that produces sex hormones doesn't bother waking up.

zoladex is not a contraceptive and is highly toxic to pregnancy. Traces of GnRH drugs have been found in the body up to 4 months after the implant of a 28day dose.

Irrespective of how quickly your periods return or howsoon you are ovulating - it is the drug manufacturers themselves that advise practicing safest sex for at least 12 weeks after the last dose went in your body to avoid contaminating the foetus with the drug which can cause miscarriage and deformities.

Once you are passed that stage and are back having unprotected sex, then how long to conceive depends on how much someone's fertility has been impacted by endo and surgery and scarring among a host of issues that may need to be overcome for a natural conception.

One thing I can be certain of is that one person's experience regarding conceiving after zoladex WILL NOT reflect your own . Each of us is unique in where the endo is located, our medical issues and health overall, and also how our bodies respond after zoladex. One hormone can get back to full production quickly, the next may only partially get back in production, other may never get back in production, and which order each of the hormones gets made again varies.

I wouldn't want you to get your hopes up based on what others have reported, because zoladex just doesn't work like that and endo itself is so random too.

This is not in the slightest like coming off the pill in order to TTC. It really is a waiting game, hoping to goodness the pituitary does get back to full working order in a decent space of time.

Hello! I become pregnant first month of trying. I finished zoladex June, had a lap and came off the implant in august. My husband is in the forces and came home in December. I had periods throughout zoladex though. Best of luck :) xxx
