Ovulation and accurate results..

Hi ladies, I appear to be having a real issue with ovulation tests, they are negative all the time. I have been trying to conceive now for a while. I am wondering if you ladies have had any luck using a particular brand or just about anything to know when you are ovulating? Its becoming incredibly frustrating and disheartening now. I am almost ready to completely give up...Any advice or tips you have would be great. Thank you all so much :)

Hi I use these strips and have had no problems with these.

amazon.co.uk/One-Step-Sensi...

Took me a while to figure out when I was ovulating. I keep a track of my periods and work out roughly the week I should be ovulating and usually test everyday that week until I get my positive result. on a average 28 day cycle most woman ovulate around 2 weeks after your period, so count day 1 as the first day of your period and so day 14 would roughly be when you ovulate...it can sometimes be earlier or later though depending on whether you have a period every 28 days, 30days ect.

Hope this helps!

I had a blood test done recently, as part of my pre fertility referral, which tests to see if you are ovulating. You have to have it 7 days before your period and if you don't get your period you then have to have it done again.

Some women don’t regularly ovulate. I have a friend also going through fertility treatment as she very rarely ovulates. If you have been trying for a long time explain to your GP that your ovulation tests keep coming up negative and ask to have the blood test done.

Also another sign to look out for - TMI WARNING - when you ovulate your cervical mucus becomes clear, slippery and stringy. If you know your body you should be able to tell the difference. You can also keep a temperature diary - don't know much about this but have been told your temperature changes around the time you ovulate. Apparently keeping a temperature diary can help you predict when you will be ovulating.

Hope this helps, good luck trying! I have my first appointment at the fertility clinic tomorrow as I've had no luck so far. Don't give up, don't know how long you've been trying for but it can take a long time, especially for us endo ladies. I've been trying for just over a year and keep being told that's not that long.

:) x

Having had the mirena coil for 3 years, when we decided we wanted to start TTC and knowing that my cycles were irregular, I started using the digital clearblue ovulation tests.

For me, even though they are more expensive than others, it was easier to read and not second guess the display lines. I start testing from day 8 and continue until I've had a :-) and test the next day to see it go back to normal.

I enter all my information onto a fertility friend app and its helpful to look back and see if there is a pattern.

A friend also lent me the clearblue fertility monitor. I use this along side the ovulation tests.

Some months i have had :-) over a few days, but interestingly the monitor has helped me knowing which ones were more accurate by displaying a peak reading in the morning and then getting a further :-) later that day...

Hopefully I've not confused you too much...good luck :-)
