Pre-opis usually done a week or so before an op - but could be a month or more- varies a great deal depending on lots of things including the results of the pre-op.

It goes through your medical history, allergies, weight, height, and so on, and you discuss to some degree what is to happen in the op and its a great opportunity to have an extended chat about any concerns with a gynae staff nurse. they know a surprising amount, so do think about any questions you want to ask about the practical side of things.

Thanks for replying and for the info, only diagnosed with the chocolate cyst 6 weeks ago and i've never been to hosptial before so not sure how things work. It's all a bit stressful and overwhelming to be honest and i'm finding the waiting very difficult. But things seem to be starting to happen now so hopefully i'll have a date for my Lap soon.

Hi there

It was a few weeks between my pre op in the mater and the actual operation.... They also said they could not give me an indication of when it would be as it was a different list.

All done now and recovered from op... Good luck to you :)

I had my pre-admission appointment a few weeks ago and so I was thinking that I would get a date for my operation a few weeks later. But no I haven't and I was told the pre-admission tests last 3 months unless something changes. Very disappointing x

Hi

I'm in NI too, I had my pre op assessment last Nov and still waiting! I should have been in April but I had a holiday pre booked so looks like that has pushed me back a bit.

In the City pre op assessments last for 6 months I have been told.

I've been really nervous about going into hospital too and now it's going to be delayed more as I'm struggling with high BP at the mo so they don't operate until it's down.

Give appts office a ring, they've been very helpful to me x

Thanks for replying, I'm the City hospital too so it sounds like it won't be as quick as I hoped. I was told Aug for my Op originally but I was just hoping it may be sooner. I have put myself down for a cancellation though.

Just keep phoning them, I've phoned every few weeks as work have been a total PITA about when it's going to be.

They have been really nice.

When is your pre op assessment? Soon I take it? The nurse who done mine was lovely so please don't worry x
