Hey I was put on it last year.. told to take 3 packets then have my break! Loved not having my monthly cycle however it didn't help my pain when I was on. I also had breakthrough bleeding twice. Gp said if it happens again then they will change my pill. Didn't have any side effects to being on it and ive been on it a year in july

I was prescribed microgynon 30 end of November 2013 to take every day of the year non-stop. It seemed to work from November to end of February but unfortunately since mid March I've been having a lot of breakthrough bleeding and severe cramps again. Most likely I will have to switch pill again.

I've been on it for 5 years or so now unknowing i had endo, but i'd be taking it normally so 3 weeks then a break. But then i got really ill with the endo especially when i had my break for periods. So i went to the doctors and got told to take it for 3 or 4 months then i had to have my break. I then got so bad i had to be taken in for an emergency op where the endo was diagnosed in February. Since then i've been on it back to back with no breaks at all, it has helped me a bit and no breakthrough bleeds as of yet (fingers crossed)

Hello, this is my first post, I am replying to your question as it's one that I was going to ask, because I have been put on microgynon but it is not helping me with the symptoms. I have tried it twice to treat endo but both times coincided with periods that lasted several weeks.

The background is, I was on microgynon for ten years with no problems at all. Came off in 2009, after which periods came back in a very heavy and painful way (10-14 days of bleeding). GP prescribed mefenamic acid, but it gave me stomach ache, so I just used ibuprofen for a few years. In early 2013 I was found to be anaemic, and a new GP had ultrasound done which indicated endo and fibroids. While waiting for a referral to a gynae, tried norethisterone for a few months, which helped lengthen the cycle but did not reduce bleeding. Gynae recommended that I go back on microgynon. Did so in July 2013 on first day of period, but the bleeding lasted a month and was the heaviest yet - I decided to come off the pill. Went back to norethisterone, but still had heavy bleeding and long periods. Went to see GP in March 2014, who recommended trying microgynon again for 3 months as it might have been a coincidence that I had such a long period the first time I tried it. I had a bad feeling about this but obeyed. I tried 2 packets back to back but the bleeding continued during all that time (six weeks - longest ever). Couldn't get an appointment with GP but I emailed the surgery and they said that it seems microgynon isn't working, and to come off and try norethisterone to stop the bleeding. That was 10 days ago and I am still bleeding, although not as heavily.

I have just moved and will have to find a new GP to explain everything to. Perhaps there will be another solution that works.

The microgynon seems to work for the pain in my tummy but not the pain in my thighs and bum and pelvis. Doesn't help with the water infection either. But I guess you can't have everything xx

Yes, I have recently, after my diagnosis in April, been on it for about 4 weeks now but my body isn't agreeing with it but have to wait another 2 more weeks before my doctor's will swap. I have been told to take it 3 months back to back. Xx

I was on Microgynon 30 for a while with the plan to take it in 3 monthly back to back sessions. It didn't go down well with me at all. Had constant bleeding for weeks causing a lot of pain, felt nauseous all of the time but worst part for me was the effect it had on my mood. I was so miserable, cried over nothing and had little control over my temper which was not fun for anyone.

To be fair, my body seems to disagree with most medications so it could just be one of those things but other pills didn't seems to effect my mood in the same way so that one definitely wasn't for me x
