Hiya barb, not doing too bad thanks. Go in on sun for op on mon. Getting a bit nervous but glad to be finally getting something done. Been trying to keep myself busy this week to pass the time but still been struggling with pain. How are you?xxx
Thanks for responding and the kind words. I'm just really stressed about it. Do you have to take bowel prep before your surgery? X
Cat247, Hope your surgery goes well to and best of luck xx
It's natural to be nervous but I felt like a new woman after mine. I'm sure you will too! Best of luck
The bowel prep depends on if they need to do anything near your bowel.... I think its pretty common but make sure you check because I thought I had to have one from what my surgeon had said never got one and got to pre op before being told my surgery might have to get cancelled because I hadn't had one! Fortunately the surgeon said it was okay as I wasn't all that big and he was confident he could do what he needed to without it getting in the way. It is a pretty natural thing to be nervous but try and calm as much as you can - when they give you the stuff to knock you out you won't know a thing until after recovery! Good luck
Good luck for you lap kapj it's understandable to be nervous but this is what you've been waiting for so its good try to keep yourself distracted with getting organised - cleaning the house and getting on top of any washing means that you won't have that to worry about post op. Write a shopping list of easy to cook healthy foods as well as toiletries you'll need. Plan what your taking in the car for the journey home ( pillow to cushion your tummy from road bumps, bottle of water, music you like) set up the bedroom & living room with nearby essentials, always wise to pack an overnight bag incase they keep you in. Plan what baggy clothes you want to wear on discharge including comfortable shoes - by focusing on all the prep side it helps stop you thinking of the negative
stuff ( well it helped me anyway!) I even bought myself a pair of yellow (for endo) pair of socks which I wore which made me smile
xx oh & I had a phosphate enema as bowel prep ( tbh not much different to glycerine suppositories that I had to use due to endo each month but it's not nice but you'll be fine. Advice - hold it for as long as possible ( i managed 10 mins) but get to the toilet in advance so when you cant hold any longer you're not panicking lol x)
Thank you some much ladies for all your kind words and positivity. Truly appreciate it. X
Cat247, I've been the medication to be taken at home day before surgery. X
