hi

2 days ago? rest up and give it time. my swelling went down by itself. as for the removal of the endo they found, i couldn't tell you as yet as they only did the laparoscopy for me to 'investigate'.....i'm now waiting for further surgery.

it is my understanding that many are placed on a contraceptive drug or given a coil to slow any endo returning........

Hi Bee9, Thank you. Alls I have been doing is sleeping an eating haha I feel so lazy. I have been told to stay off work for one week to recover. I was thinking of drinking some peppermint tea to help with the bloating?, Yes I am on the contraceptive pill been told to take this back to back to help with any further progression. I just hope it will be gone for a long time as I am really worried about infertility but I was pleased when I found I had very mild endo and also tiny tiny spots. None were found of my ovaries or tubes which is also a good thing :)/ Good Luck with your surgery. xxxxxx

Hello emj2014,

I've just had my lap done around 5 days ago and I'm still a bit swollen too. My nurse told me just about moving around as much as possible to remove the gas they use to pump you up with. Other than that I have no more ideas, sorry! I spoke with the doctor and nurse before being discharged which determined another lap in 4 months due to being diagnosed with stage 4. If you didn't have this then I suppose a phone call to your gyno or a visit to the GP? I do apologise for my lack to help.

Wish you a speedy recovery!xx

Hi Timothy31, I am really sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with stage four. Was this your first lap?. I have had mine removed and I have to go back in 6 months time but that is just for a check up. They didn't really explain whether I would ever need another lap. I have just been told to take my pill back to back in order to keep the endo away for now. Thank you good luck to you too. xxxxxx

Yes, it was all done on my first! Im very new to this as I only started this process in Jan after years of pain. Hopefully you wont need another one and the Endo stays away!Xx

Don't try and do too much and be patient, the swelling is there because you've been rummaged in, it will go slowly as you heal, don't push things too hard and make the recovery time longer. Hopefully the removal of the endo will mean that you will be pain free, possibly for a long period of time, my surgeon told me that in 20% of people who have had their endo removed surgically the endo will return within about 5 years, requiring more surgery, so for most people it is a relatively long term solution, however there is no cure for endo and more than likely it will return at some point, these forums are brilliant but you have to remember that they are used regularly by those of us unlucky enough to have ongoing problems. Hopefully you will be lucky and this op will mean that you have a much better quality of life, take care of yourself and be gentle with yourself during your recovery period, if you have any questions, worries or just need support the ladies on this site are amazing and someone will have gone through what you are going through and will be able to give you the advice you need, xx

Hi Buttercup_73. Thank you for your lovely reply it is hard to explain to people who do not understand endo so this is why I love this forum because people are going through the same thing as me. I really do hope I am one of the lucky ones. I do know this is going to be a lifetime thing that I will have to adjust to. I feel so sorry for anybody going through this and the fact that the laparoscopy is the only way of diagnosing is a bit of a disappointment because the recovery isn't nice. But I am also grateful for having mild endo because I know how bad the endo can get and at least I have caught it early. Thanks so much for your reply. xxxx

Keep active - potter about the house every hour or two while you are awake. not too much stretching up or bending down, but a walk from the front door to the back door, or even the stairs is enough to keep things moving. Drink lots of water no fizzy anything. If you need the loo more - that's more activity which is good.

Swollen tummies calm down in the weeks head and 1 week is a miracle recovery. The hosp sign you off work 1 week - then they expect you to see your GP nd get signed off for a week or two more then after that see how you go pain wise.

I would hve thought for an op like yours 3 weeks is probably about right for a return to a desk job - you may need more than that ifyour work involves more manual work or standing lot of the time, or with kids running in to your fragile tummy.

Do not over do it. Gently everything - lots of rest - regular smaller meals because you won't be using up so much energy, lots of water and peppermint to shift any trapped gas.

Do not try and squeeze yourself in to tight clothes while swollen. It isn't worth the after pain it causes.

Hi.

2 days ago is nothing. Expect to be bloated for the next few weeks. They had to fill your stomach with carbon dioxide gas to see your organs and get to the endo, your body will naurally absorb this gas, it's not the kind of gas you can get rid of yourself if you know what I mean!! Anyway make sure you rest, you've had an operation and need to recover. We're all different on this site, we've all got the same problems but different degrees of it, so what works for someone else may not necessarily work for you, so do whats best for you as regards recovery, how long you need etc.
