Not speaking from personal experience - but some websites for private companies do publish price lists. and a private consultation is somwhere around between £100 and £300 quid. It will depend on who you are seeing, how long your appointment is, what tests they want to run on you and so on.

you can email the practise managers and ask them what they charge for certain things including a consultation with a particular nmed Surgeon. You have every right to ask how much it will cost you if you re paying for it yourself.

You can also ask your existing GP or hosp consultnt for copies of your medical records so far. You will have to pay for photocopies, but any that relate to your endo journey my be useful to private consultant.

The cost for that is in the region of £40 (well that's what my local GP surgery is charging !) They may let you have relevent copies for free or much lower price if you explain why you are wanting them nd don't need complete record of you whole life history !!

thank you, I did try to google it but found it quite tricky to find. Maybe best to email them like you say, thanks.

I was told the initial consultation would cost between £150-£250. (I made the enquiry last week)

I was also told that I would need to get a referral from my GP even for a private consultation.

Best wishes,

Barbara x

PS you could phone the hospital and ask to speak to the specialists secretary. They will be able to give you a "quote"

I have seen 2 specialists privately. I self referred to both by searching the internet and ringing the company direct. The first consultant I saw was through a company called Spire and the fee was £350.00. The second consultant was through BMI healthcare - initial consult £200.00 followed by MRI £ 650.00 then follow up consultation £100.00 I am due to have my surgery on April4th. Hospial fee is £2,330.00 consultant fee between £750.00 - £1,200.00 and aethestist fee approx £200.00 . Good job my hubby is so understanding. Hope this helps x

Hello Babefish, what are you having done?

Hi Cuddlybarb I'm having my first ever lap & radical excision of endo. Excited but nervous too lol

Bless you!

You are having the right procedure done. Excision surgery seems to be the way forward with Endo.

Good luck x

Mine was initially 190 then 140 after that but my consultant surgeon referred me back into the NHS (as she works for the NHS too) and I was under her care, and still am, throughout diagnosis and my lap. Going private is so much better - it's another world!

I saw a great one in Manchester for £200 then had total peritoneum excision after x

I have just had the invoices for mine, consultant fees are £250 a time and after the endo excision operation, one night stay in hospital, blood tests and scans and consultant appointments its just under £8000 so far x
