Zoladex Implant - how long does it take to work?

Hello. i wondered if anybody could help me? I have severe endometriosis. and also a new cyst on my remaining ovary, scanned last week. My gyne has put me onto Zoladex implant and Livial add back therapy.

My first implant was on 20th December on the second day of my last period, this period was predictably painful.

Since my implant I have had some dull ache in my right hand side (remaining ovary) and down the front of my right thigh.

I was one week early on my last period, and I think that this week is my "week early" period, I am not bleeding but the pain is very bad. I am taking tramadol again, and ibuprofen/paracetamol to try and ease the pain.

My next Zoladex implant is due this coming Friday.

Is this normal to have pain still, is it too early for the Zoladex to have worked in shutting down my ladies bits? I am worried that there is little point me being on Zoladex if the pain is not getting any better. I have spent all weekend in agony (Again) and am finding work a struggle, I have vowed that this year I will not let this get me down, but feel like I am going backwards already..............

Any advice?

Hi

It's still early. Before your body 'shuts down' it puts up a really good fight against the Zoladex so the situation will get worse before it gets better.

I know it's a pain (literally!) but you need to have at least one more injection to be able to judge properly whether it's going to work for you.

Good luck :)

Thank you Chrissie66 I am trying to hang on in for another injection, as I am fine with any side effect as long as the pain gets better.....xx

Is this your first one? I vividly remember my very first jab, it was like a miracle. As soon as it kicked in it was HEAVEN, the pain went, and I felt better than I had for YEARS. I hope it's the same for you xxxx
