How do you tell the difference between endo pain or adhesions from a hysterectomy.

I had hyster in October 2012. Pain never really went away, it's better than it was before the op as I hD adeno as well. As far as I know the endo that was found wasn't touched. Had anyone had a similar experience. The pain I have can only be described as a sharp stabbing pain. Thank you in advance

I can't answer your questions but am interested in what people answer. I am in similar situation to you was i have endo and adeno i am having hysterectomy on 29th Jan i am hoping to be pain free after but i know its unlikely. Gynea has said she will remove what endo she can and i have been on zoladex for 4 months to help with pain. And i think Im having ovaries removed to as got numerous chocolate cysts . Can i ask u if u kept your ovaries or had them removed

Hi Michelle I kept ovaries, but if I had op again I would have them removed. I had no endo removed not a very knowledgable gyne as I later found out. He said hyster is the only cure for endo! As for pain it's a hundred times better than it was, a lot of it was coming from adeno. I wish you we'll with your op, I hope it helps you.

Hi, I found this a while ago which may help you:

I confirmed with my consultant (who is an Endo specialist cons) that the descriptions are indeed correct between endo and adhesion pain as explained in the article. Hope it helps you too.
