Think treatments are very individual and depend on your age, whether you are hoping for family and the stage of endometriosis. I have had endo since 14yrs,though it was not formally diagnosed until after my 2nd child at 30yrs.When I was young I was on anti-inflammatories, then at 18yrs was put on combined pill, which controlled the pain until after my second baby. Then it all flared up badly and I had burst ovarian cysts, endoscopies, lasering and cutting of adhesions.I then embarked on GNRH agonists - these were for me miraculous. No periods ,no constant pain. Down side is only 6 months allowed, but I did also have 1yr on a nasal spray synarel which was also excellent.Depo Provera ,which am on now, is much less effective but the only way to put of total hysterectomy .For pain relief there are many options ,but I find only tramadol( takes edge of) and morphine( I am now allergic to it, so cant be given any more) to be the only effective relief.I know ladies who are on morphine patches, but it is not given lightly.
Have you tried pain clinic - I used a tens machine, which did help a bit,but you cant use in bed.Accupuncture,herbalism.
One thing I would mention is that keeping the bowels moving is really important, especially if taking codeine based painkillers and if ,like me it is painfull.I take physillium husk every morning -in a smoothie along with spirulina and fruit juice.Prune juice and prunes work wonders in a crisis and after surgery.Endo pain can be considerably worsened if constipated or you get trapped wind!I use peppermint oil capsules, peppermint tea and charcoal capsules -which all help the ibs type cramps and wind - all widely available and could be prescribed by GP.
Hope others can share their experiences.Wishing you all the best.
