Smear test came back "unable to process results"

So I went and made sure I had every possible test before my gyne appointment comes through, so that things wont be dragged out there with tests, however my smear has come back "unable to process results" and I cant have another before december. Anyone else experienced this? xxx

Hiya - I've had this twice. Once it was because there was blood contaminating the sample and once because they hasn't managed to collect enough cells. Both smears were repeated and came back normal. I have smears yearly as I had problems in the past so they didn't wait 3 months to repeat them, but I think this is the standard guideline. When the results have been abnormal they've been able to tell straight away so I hope you've nothing to worry about. A good website with a link to a document that explains smear results is cervicalcheck.ie. hope that helps a bit x

My pleasure. Glad to know I could ease your worries a little! I know more about weird cervix type things than endo...just starting to learn about that! My family "joke" that I'm a disaster between the belly button and thighs! Problem is I can't really argue! Hope you get on ok x ps I found a practice nurse at my GP practice who is good at getting a good smear sample without making me bleed (and quick and as pain free as poss too). I haven't had an 'unable to process' result since, so I stick with her x
