I am sorry to hear you are not sleeping well. Tramadol is a painkiller so if you are not sleeping due to pain then I suppose Tramadol would be the one to take but when taken taken over a long period of time can become addictive. Amitriptyline is a nerve relaxant so if you are working yourself because your mind is doing over time then that maybe the best one to take. Have you spoken to your gp about this?

yes i have i think she wants meto take amitriptyline cos all worryed about been in pain had loads of tests but still no ans still eaiting for more test to come back

Well maybe you should just give it a go and see how you feel once being on it for a few weeks. So have you been diagnosed with endo yet? What tests have you had done so far?

Hope you get sorted soon and can find some pain relief that works for you. Just be prepared that your scan may come back showing nothing as I had no end of scans and kept getting told there was nothing wrong with me yet when I pushed for a laposcopy they found it. You really need to be firm and push for a referral to gynae.

I have found amatripiline to be very effective at night - it helps me to sleep right through the night with no pain, good luck with your diagnosis. I had my 3rd lap yesterday with ablation of endo on ovaries and falopian.

I was told that you cant take both as they react in your body it was flagged on the GP's computer system as central nerver system toxcitiy. I was on 100mg of amitrip at the time so it may have been to do with dosages but I would get them to check this properly. xx

I was diagnosed after 4yrs of suffering in oct of last yr with a lapascopy. But before having the surgery even the consultant was convinced I didn't have endo. To his surprise I did though.

I would suggest amitrip is better than tram. I was on amitrip for a couple of years, I was put on it as I wasnt sleeping and was really anixious and upset all the time. It sounds like your going through it trying to get a diagnosis which is not going to help you sleep. The only way to diagnose endo with a definate answer is by laproscopy. Blood test can't indicate endo but they can also be markers of a lot of other things as well. Scans can't see endo properly as its the same density as the other tissue around it. A scan may see cysts and dense scar tissue but actual spots of endo, which are very small, are impossible to see. If your GP supects it's endo they should refer you straight to a gyne. Keep pushing them to refer you, I hope you get a diagnosis soon. xx

Hello, I have Fibromyalgia and Endometriosis. i have been having surgery for 20 years on and off. the photos of my uterous are covered in bubbles that look like scar tissue. I am on on amitriptyline and tramadol. tramadol keeps me awake, i found that the slow release helps because i can take it just before i go to bed at night with my amitriptyline, i also take one in the morning. I have got some fast acting tramadol for intense pain.

Hiya Debbie,

I actually take both daily, but what my brother told me (he's a pharmacist) was that you need to be careful because if you are epileptic or suffer from any other sorts of seizures, then if you take both at the same time there is a small risk of it bringing on seizures- so please take care if you decide to take both!

Take care , hope your feeling better xxx

Hi what make tramadol are you on?

As I'm on zydol tramadol

And they make me tired all day and night, I can go to bad at night and have 10 hrs wake up in the morning and go back to sleep an hour later and have another 5-6hrs then wake for an hour or so and then sleep again,

But first time I was on them I only slept for 1-3 hrs and was full of life, doing my work quickly and good,

Doing my things around the house,

Spending quality time with my kids

But now these tramadol I'm on effects all that,

I need to try and find the makes of others that will give me that kick up the ass, that's why I ask what make your on,

( will tell you on back of the tablet sleeve)

Not what you're looking for?
