Hi

I am currently on prostap which is similar to zoladex, just different brand, I started it in December and the plan is to stick with it for 12 mths. My gynae seems very unfussed about me staying on it past the 6 months stated in the licence, I've pushed both him and my GP about it, GP initially said the decision is on my gynaes head which filled me with confidence (not!) but after long conversations with both doctors, sticking with it for another 6mths is my best option at the mo. I was also told I had to start hrt once I got to 6 mths, started this just over 2 weeks ago but started bleeding so have been told to stop taking it and am now waiting on gynae to phone and tell me what to do but other that its been fine.

Im on zoladex for six months, my gynae who is an endo specialist has said i have the option of staying on it long term but would have to have a bone scan to check for osterporosis and take hrt.

I was surprised he would let me as against all the reccomendations. When I questioned him about it he said he only allows this for small percentage of ladies normally who have no other options. Eg for me surgery won't help.

However I personally do not wish to take it too long. I feel though it's been amazing for the pain, I've had servere side effects and that my body has really suffered. I'm going to use depro vera instead and will come back to zoladex if I get desperate in the future.

Good luckxxx

Hi

I had my first Zoladex injection in October 2012 and my last one 2 weeks ago, I'm also taking HRT. I've had no pain since November but found that since February my shoulders, arms and back ache, I feel like an old lady! I would rather this than the pain i was having before and popping all manner of pills. I'm having a full hysterectomy in 2 weeks, fingers crossed it works. I hope you're having a pain free day x

Thank you ladies. My daughter has this horrible condition and is awaiting her second surgery which will involve a bowel surgeon too. By some miracle my daughter became pregnant within the first month of trying and at her first scan it was discovered she had 2 cysts one very large one and then the nightmare began! Lots of scans MRIs in and out of hospital throughout her pregnancy, terrible induction which ended in an emergency c section when the Drs discovered the full extent of the condition. She has been on Zoladex for 5 months and is now on HRT and all the painkillers many of you are on. We are hoping her surgery can be put off until mid August as I am getting married and her beautiful daughter will be 1. I had heard of endometriosis and thought it just caused infertility . I had no idea how debilitating, how painful and how life changing it could be. I feel there needs to be more publicity to highlight this terrible condition and the women it affects. I admire you all and your strength coping with this condition. My daughter has good days and bad days but is never pain free. This website has helped her not to feel like some crazy, deranged person who felt so alone and only talked about pain. And has made me realise what she is going through. Yet we both consider her lucky she has two older children and now her baby girl. I wish you all the very best. And thank you for sharing your experiences.
