hi

Excision is the best (As long as the gynae is very exoerienced too), can take endo from the root 100% (if in location that is possible of course) where diathermy/laser burns only the surface of endo and the root is usually left behind and usually regrows.

I had excision in my last lap and they managed to remove all endo from the root (from my right uterosacral ligament) x

Thanks had thought I'd had excision surgery but found out it was by diathermy. Consultant didn't think it would return as had last ovary removed and been put on estrogen hrt.

All latest research suggests excision. Good luck. Xx

Most definitely excision. I had 'total peritoneal excision' over 2 years ago for very advanced stage endo just about everywhere and I can say I have not had any further endo problems to-date. This removes the whole lining of your peritoneum all in one go - most surgeons who do excision surgery remove patches rather than the whole lining. But any excision has a better outcome than laser longer-term as, like jojo says, it removes it from the root. Bit like gardening, if you just cut the weeds down from the surface, they will likely spring up again from the roots (with laser this will not be in the same place as it causes scar tissue to form). Excision removes the root at well.

All best wishes x
