I really need some advice on a few health issues following a laparoscopy and lasering of stage 3 endo and a adhesion.
I had my op on Thursday and since then it feels like I have a water infection I am on antibiotics although it doesn't seem to be making any difference. I need to wee but can't unless I really push and concentrate and it burns and stings so much!! There is also a very horrible smell and brown 'tissue' that keeps coming out. Plus I am covered in red dots they aren't bothering me really some are a little itchy - I think it's from the medication.
Has anyone experienced this?
Sorry for the graphics! Xx

With the bladder thing I'm not too sure. I think Impatient mentioned something like this in another post so maybe trawl through her responses (or search bladder) and see what comes up.
The smell and tissue, is this from the vagina? If so give it another day on the antibiotics and then call a doctor. A smell like that is sign of an infection and with the right (super strong) antibiotics the smell itself should stop in a matter of days. However, gunk that isnt horrific smelling is quite common
Red itchy spots can be both a sign of infection or a response to medication. If it stared within hours of starting your anti-biotics call the doctor to check as if it's an allergy/intolerance response then you need to change to a different type.
I had two courses of anti biotics after my lap, as I had a UTI for six weeks, drink lots of water and some cranberry juice and drink de caff tea or coffee if you do drink them. Three days post op is very early days so give yourself chance to recover. I can't comment on the brown gunk as I had an ablation at same time so I was bleeding quite heavily anyway with some weird stuff coming out. The itching could be down to medication, and so could the red spots but if you feel concerned then ring the hospital or your gp out of hours just to get it it all checked. How long have you been taking the anti biotics? They take a good three days before they get fully into your system and you must take them regularly as stated and finish the course xx
Thank you both the tissue gunk is coming from my vagina. I have been prone to water infections and it somehow feels different I have cranberry juice so drinking lots of it and water. Also bathing to relieve the pain. I have only been taking the antibiotics since Friday evening so not even 48 hours. I will see how I feel tomorrow.
I was expecting to bleed because they warned me of that by instead it's just the foul smelling brown stuff
I think the spots are just a reaction too just wondered if anyone else had them. Thought it could be a reaction to the iodine .....
Thank you for answering and i hope you are both well xxxx
Not being ble to wee- or urinary retention is a post op complication. Could be that they traumatised the bladder walls(muscles) attacking endo, or you had catheter installed for your op which may have been removed prior to you waking up.
Bladder Muscle Spasms and inflamation mean you are either unable to empty the bladder or only a small bit at a time and then the pressue builds up again.
This same sitation can also arise from an infection too, so quite right your should be on anti-biotics but if after the course of anti-biotics you take a pee pot to the GP and it tests negtive for infection when they dip a test strip in it, then you need to be looking at tablets to reduce bladder spasms to see if that can help you go pee...... warning they will de-hydrate you and make you pee a lot once they get going, but trust me peeing a lot is far nicer that desperately needing a pee and not being able too. It does kind of flush your system out too which can help prevent any infections taking hold.
My bladder did not settle back for 17 months post op (bit of a nightmare) but suddenly last x-mas after I had given up all hope, I woke up one morning and felt "wow I can hold my pee in and get to the loo on time" and decided to see how much of the day I could last without having to take meds, That was the last time I took a bladder tablet.
Reading up on these matters most people get their bladders working again within a week or two of an op (I guess once any trauma swelling eases off), mine took ages but I had had the full works big hole op.
If you need to pee and it's getting worse and pressure is really building up and the situation becoming almost unbearable- please visit A&E. They can get you temporarily cathetered to empty you out and get you on bladder relaxants right away.
Brown tissue is blood and mucus and uterine lining shedding away (it has lost it's oxygen and turned from red to brown- perfectly normal and it can smell rusty without actually being infected.
If you are covered in red dots, then please see a doc right away, or a pharmacist or visit A&E, it might be a reaction to the meds but equally and more worryingly can be a sign of septicemia. Please get a glass bottle or tumbler and check out your rash for meningitis
It is a risk and if any doubt at all please seek urgent medical help. Better to be safe than sorry. Even if you are on antibiotics already.
When you were discharged from the gyane ward there will be telephone number on the discharge letter, give them a call with yor concerns, they could well ask you to return straight to them, by-passing A&E and the waiting lists there.
Post op complications can and do happen, but most can be resolved pretty quickly if they are not left to get worse. Good Luck
Hello thanks for all your advice and experiences. The pain just kept getting worse so I have been hospital and the doctor seemed quite shocked at the thickness and colour of my urine ( the bits that are in it ) she said she thinks it's a womb infection and has sent it off to be fully tested. Now on really strong antibiotics so hopefully will get better!
She also looked at the red dots and wasn't overly concerned. She said she doesn't know what they are but cause they aren't bothering me and doesn't appear to be life threatening like meningitis or shingles.
So that's good :') now time to heal and try and get my life back on track and deal with this disease xx
