Help - Failed IVF.

Hi All,

Really need some advice, as feeling so low.

Basically I have stage 4 endometriosis and have had 3 major operations in 3 years and only 30 years old. I have undergone my first cycle of IVF and only had one fertilised egg, in addition to this my UMH markers were terribly low. The consultants were very positive though which was a good sign. Inplantation went well however but after a couple of week unfortunately I suffered a miscarriage and the pain and bleed associated with this was awful and I ended up taking a week off work. It may have been the case that the embryo wasn’t right which I understand can happen.

I am now back on the mini pill and due to start another round of IVF July / August time which I know we are very lucky to have. At the moment I am really not feeling great emotionally and trying to carry on as best I can, I feel as though my body is letting me down and every where I turn there are new born babies. I am also experiencing pain after eating which may suggest the endometriosis is once again present around my bowel and tummy. As you know trying to remain positive is not an easy task when you have this disease.

Ladies any friendly advice would really help as I feel so low.Thanks.xx

I'm sorry to hear things are hard for you at the moment. I also have endo and have done IVF recently, aged 38 and 39. I became pregnant from the first round but, like you, lost the pregnancy after a few weeks. I'm currently pregnant again (after 2 more fresh cycles of IVF and one frozen), and this time have reached 9 and a half weeks so far. IVF can be a v hard road to go down, but I hope that things do change for you in future. I know that we're all different, (with different forms and degrees of endo etc) but at least you are younger than a lot of the people doing IVF, so that may give you a slightly better chance. Good luck with your journey.

By the way, quite a lot of people are writing about their IVF experiences on the infertility network site (which you can get to by exploring the other communities, using the button at the top).

I'm so sorry your feeling so low! I'm at the beginning of the journey we've been ttc for 8 months and I have suspected endometriosis awaiting on test results then going to referred to a gynaecologist! I feel your pain of desperately wanting A child and everyone around you being pregnant or have new born babies! Most of my friends conceived first try and have no

Idea of the heart break they just moan about their kids and how lucky we are to be able to

do what we want when we want! Well if swap their lives with mine in a second of it meant I

Could have a child! Have you got a good social and family network who are supporting you? I know it's so easy to say but try and stay positive and treat your self and give you little things to look forward too other than just thinking about the next round of IVF! I'm about to start acupuncture for the symptoms and also my fertilty today so hopefully that may help! Have you thought about alternative therapies to work along side the medical treatment? Big hugs and I'm thinking of you xxx

Sorry to hear about your failed cycle, I had a failed cycle in March, I also only had one egg but it was a grade two embryo and it didn't take. I totally felt me body was letting me down and I've been grieving ever since. I am trying to be myself again and build up resilience for next round because I was a nervous wreck throughout the whole process.

My doctor said that sucess rates are always higher for women that have managed to fall pregnant once or more in the past and that it doesn't matter whether they miscarried or not so your chances next time round are good.

Stay strong xx

Please take some hope from the fact you did manage to conceive, even with one egg, that is rather amazing. I had two cycles of IVF both unsuccessful and with not even a hint of pregnancy. Keep positive x it's not as black as it feels, please keep hope x
