Hi,

Have you had yourself checked for autoimmune conditions? One of my early indicators ( I now realise) of disease, was recurrent cold/chest infections. My immune system was attacking my own body.

It can't hurt to rule this out.

Don't think so. I have problems with throught and chest infections last October i was admitted to hospital with eumonia and kidney function of 11%.

How do you go about being tested?

blood testing bloods show everything your blood is made up of red & white blood cells if your white blood cells are raised to high that indicates infection also creatinine will indicate health of your kidney function.

Hi buryboy, i have had a constant cold and a slight tickly throat since december and when the wheather gets colder i usually end up turning blue. i spoke to the doctors and they said nothing is wrong with me. however looking at responses on here and on nkf website it seems that something is wrong. if you here any different from your docs please let me know.

I honestly believe the nhs has no money or time to look after people like us. I don't get paid when I'm of work so the only people that lose out is me and my family.

Hi Buryboy. Don't know how they can say that it is not kidney related. I was told that due to my poor renal function I am more prone to colds/flu/infections - otherwise why would they innoculate me against flu and pnuemonia. I've been told that what little kidney function I have could easily be wiped out by a bout of flu.Kidney disease has a huge impact on your overall health which is why we need to look after ourselves - good diet etc. If you're not happy with the service you're receiving ask for a second opinion, contact your renal counsellor or failing that contact the patient advisory and liason service. Good luck.
