ckd stage 3 and headaches
Hi Murdoc04, It would be wise to visit your GP to have your blood pressure checked. It is important that your blood pressure is within normal range to help protect your kidney function. If you are on blood pressure medication your GP may want to make some changes which might be better for you. Your symptoms might have nothing to do with your CKD so the GP can check this out.

thankyou i am being monitored as my blood pressure is high i am on candestartin to combat this but it might need looking at my creatinine is 209 and my blood pressure is 179/87 my gp was thinking of doubling my dose from 4 mg to 8 mg of candestartin but seemed un sure . Any thought . First time on anything like this so any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated . Many thanks.
Hi Murdoc04, Normal blood pressure should be between 120/80 to 140/90. Try to cut down on your salt intake and maybe some gentle exercise might help, perhaps walking if you are not up to anything more. When you see your GP again ask him if you need to make any dietary changes (eg. potassium), your blood tests will indicate if you need to do this but don't make dietary changes without consulting your GP first as you may have normal potassium levels. If you have not already been tested, ask your GP to check you for diabetes and check your cholesterol is OK too. The Helpline can send you a great little book, (which is free of charge), called CKD Health Check and if you would like to e-mail your postal address to me at help2@kidney.org.uk I will send one out to you.
