visual, although I'm not a medic, I can't see why not especially if he is in severe pain from his knee. Just make sure that those involved in his care are fully aware that he has chronic kidney disease and that they avoid any medication known to aggravate the kidneys, and that he is kept well hydrated throughout, with a drip if necessary. They should also be aware that if he is having CT or MRI scans they should be carried out without contrast (dye) as that is known to be harmful to reduced functioning kidneys. So the bottom line is: speak to the experts, including his renal consultant, and get their reassurance. Good luck to your Dad

hallo Vishal2323, I do agree with what Celtic has said above. If the medical team are fully aware of of any other medical conditions your father has, they will be able to make a good judgement about his knee problem. It is always best to let medics have the full picture regarding what other problems he has, what medicines he is taking so they know what they are dealing with - this applies to every patient who has more than one medical condition that requires treatment.

Best wishes to you all Curleytop1.

Hi, I too, agree with the replies. I have 2 friends that have just had the same done, and they were walking the same day. The only regret was that they didn't do it sooner. I am sure the medical staff is well aware of your father's health conditions. God Bless. XX Buddygramma

Hi Vishal,

You have another agreement from me, but especially with Celtic's word of warning regarding the dye. However, I have a friend whose father, with renal disease, who underwent heart surgery, and despite communication between both renal and heart departments, they used dye, and his kidney health deteriorated rapidly and sadly. Remind the surgeon to the point of attaching a note to his gown, that your dad has kidney disease and they must NOT to use dye.

I'm, sure your dad will be so glad to be able to walk without pain and I wish him and you all the very best.

Lynn
