Inner Elbow Fisculas

I have a question for anyone that has a fiscula in their inner elbow. I had the fiscula done back in April this year, and am now suffering pins and needles and is now aching. Does only one have the same or similar problem?

I certainly do! The first fistula i had failed that was on my wrist that is now also working slightly. some days my elbow, arm, hand and wrist are past acheing and are actually painful. some times i get pins and needles and other times i wake up with my hand and lower arm completely numb, which can take up to ten mins to come back properly.

I use to find dialysis use to relieve it for a while but i now have a transplant and it doesnt get used. The pins and needles can be worse with a change in blood pressure I find rubbing the fistula and your arm and hand can some times get the blood flowing in the right direction again and relieve the ache a bit. make sure your arm and hand stay warm to. I had a very kind lady knit a special glove i use to use for dialysis to keep the hand and lower arm warm. (extra long cuff on it and made to measure) Try wiggling your fingers and clenching your fist regular and note any changes in your blood pressure when it occurs if you can.

Hope it helps a bit

Thanks Trace, my fistula isn't being used yet. I will try the other things you have mentioned and add to my list of knitting to make a longish sleeve glove.

Not much you can do, this is know as steel syndrome, the circulation to your hand is reduced cos your fistula is flowing nicely. Something gentle such as tiger balm and just wiggling your fingers (you should be doing the fistula exercises your hosp gave you every day.???)

And keep the arm warm.

JMan, wasn't given any exercises from the hospital! But my sister told me what to do, I have been doing that and it has matured nicely according to my specialist.

Fistula Exercises.. Every patient should be taught and given instructions such as this, and follow them, to make a strong lasting fistula.. Always check with your medical team.
