What to do with a kidney with cysts seems to depend on various factors eg link below. But, if removed, the other can make up the difference in function via natural means. My mum's eGFR was 60 pre-nephrectomy then 36 after. By adopting a Nutritional Therapy protocol, it's now ~60.

hi userotc
I’ve seen you mention nutritional therapy protocol a couple of times - do you have recommended links? I’ve seen so much conflicting advice online about what / what not to eat - I’m st 3 CKD newly diagnosed. High blood pressure being managed with ramipril. Seems to be working on BP, just anxious to know how precisely to follow the renal diet ( really, no tomatoes, avocado protein, leafy greens, a very small portion etc??)
Thank you for any advice. I’ve a dietician appointment at the end of May. Wonder what I should expect to get out of an NHS dietician?
Thanks !
Hi. I've shown below a BANT link to Nutrition practitioners as BANT is effectively the gold standard for qualified NTs. You can select an appropriate one for personalised advice and plan/protocol with CNHC registration good. They won't/can't prescribe drugs but my mum was also able to wean herself off BP medication by following her NT protocol.

My personal experience of NHS dieticians is bad and I also do not recommend because of concerns about financial incentives for their governing body (link available, on request).
Here's another list for qualified NTs but BANT, CNHC still recommended.
