Y’all I feel like a cry-baby everytime I post. But I went to the kidney doc today. I have been concentrating on drinking atleast 40 oz water a day. I walk a mile a day. According to his notes my numbers are up and down. In April it was 53. July 37. Back up to 44. He said what he didn’t want to see happen is it continues to drop. I have to go back in two months instead of three. He told me not to worry, but how can I not. I read others post on here and some are lower than mine. What am I not doing. My blood pressure was perfect today.

As per separate posts on here today, eGFR continuous decline is indeed main concern rather than fluctuations. Also hydration alone is not everything, albeit very important. Another poster mentions using a Nutritionist and Id certainly advise that.
Water consumption is an influence on what your egfr may be, but it is not a cure by any means for kidney. If it were just so simple then we would all consume 100 ounces a day and achieve normal Creatinine levels. You need to monitor your diet (no heavy proteins often, such as beef), phosphorous and potassium consumption, and blood pressure and other medications can influence the results too. You ask what are you going to do? You are going to have another blood test in 2 months to see if this last one was accurate or a fluke, if you are trending downward, have leveled off, or in fact improved. In the mean time you continue to drink (make that 60 ounces a day), avoid protein, keep "exercising" an hour a day (your walk), and see what happens.
What were the other lab results? Not just the eGFr which is just an estimate based on a formula. What color is your urine? If it's clear you may be drinking too much, it should be a light yellow color, any darker and you aren't drinking enough. What do you eat? Moderation is key...don't eliminate food groups unless your entire lab values warrant it. I did the low protein thing and now my ALB is too low. I watched my sodium like a hawk and now my sodium levels are too low. Don't just focus on eGFR, you have to look at your whole body and don't just focus on kidneys to the exclusion of other organs. If you can find a renal dietician or a nutritionist who will develop a plan based on YOUR individual needs do so. Don't just rely on a book, a website or Dr. Google. It has to be customized based on your labs.
Also try developing a spreadsheet or even a notebook to track you results so you can easily see trends developing.
y’all I just found out. That Dasani has salt it in. That is all I drink. Could that be a factor. I did see a nutritionist but she wasn’t much help. Essentially she said to follow the diabetic diet??? I am going to see what my numbers are I two months and go fro there. Thanks to all for responding. I am not good at this trying to figure what to eat not to eat how much or not enough. I just don’t want to be debilitated before I am ready. But who is. Thanks again. ❤️
I’m sorry this happened. I think it’s appalling that we receive so little guidance and are left to get to figure it all out on our own. The information is really confusing. I haven’t had my first 3 month labs yet. I’ve made a lot of dietary changes, so I’m hoping my results will be better. But I have no idea if my efforts are futile.
There’s a lot of information on line. I like the YouTube channel below for starting with simple basics :
