phosphorous ?

I have been diagnosed stage 2 CKD : potassium and sodium fine, but phosphorous raised, so my GP sent me for a liver scan , which the radiographer said he could see nothing on it to be worried about, but I am wondering why my doctor sent me for a liver scan and not a kidney one ? I haven't been able to speak to my doctor as yet, and cannot see anything on line for an answer. Your thoughts will be much appreciated.

Our labelling system in the UK does not require by law (in America it is) to state how much phosphorous is in food.... on jars etc. A good tip is to go into Asda on line shopping -look up grocery item and it states it along with protein etc. They are the only one I have found that do this.....maybe because it is an American owned Company ?? Tedious yes, but worth it.

Looking forward to your comments and help

Phosphorus does not appear on most food labels in US. Davita is a good source for sodium, phosphorus and potassium.

Your doctor is on the right track. High phosphorus levels ARE an early predictor of possible liver disease. Stage 2 CKD means you have mild kidney damage and an eGFR between 60 and 89. Most of the time, an eGFR between 60 and 89 means your kidneys are healthy and working well. So your doctor is trying to see if there are other causes of high phosphorus level. You seem to have a good doctor.
