Stopping Kidney Disease by Lee Hull is a comprehensive science based diet and treatment plan to slow ckd progression. Recommended by kidneyhood.org, I found it very helpful in starting my ckd journey. Excellent step-by-step personal treatment plan and great info on ckd plant based diet. Heartily recommend...bought my copy from Amazon
Plant based is great BUT if you need to watch your potassium as I do plant based is out! It is loaded with potassium. JO
Hi mmwsmall, I've found it hard to find a cookbook tailored to how I want to eat for CKD - Whole Foods, Plant Based, Akaline- of course that's very specific! And I do the best I can adjusting recipes to my preferences. It's definately not easy. I agree with the recommendation of Lee Hull's book, it opens your eyes. I've found some sites I like to check out recipes on, and I'll try them or just get ideas & adjust them for me. It's work for sure. I like to check out for ideas: Kidney Kitchen website, Forks over Knives website, Plant Based Kidneys on Facebook. Of course, as an Italian who lived and breathed food & cooking, this has been quite the adjustment for me. But I have to say, Plant Based is the way to go for CKD. I just wish someone could erase my memory of my Italian cooking!!
