Ckd
Hi
I'm at 12 percent now and feeling ok.
I've been told 6/7 percent is when I will probably need dyalisis.
However I imagine it's based on the individual's circumstances.
Best of luck, I hope she continues to be in good health.
thanks for reply but she had a very bad night was sick most of it and couldn't stop scratching do you know if the scratching is related to her kidney failure and hope you continue to keep well
Itching is a big problem for some people with kidney failure! & i would imagine she may need dialysis soon they don't normally like you to get too low!
Thanks for reply her specialist has said she is not suitable for dialises or transplant for a variety of different medical issues do you have any Ida of life expectancy as when I ask her specialist all she says is how long is a peace of string which is no help really getting stressed about her
I don't see why she can't have dialysis my hubby has a variety of illnesses & so do many others maybe you could ask a second opinion? it depends how long her kidney function has been going down, you can stay at 9% for a few years my hubbys home care nurse said that some people after choosing which type of dialysis still take another 2 years or more before they start!
& the year that he started we met an elderly lady who we got chatting to as my hubby was feeling unwell! she said she was about to start dialysis about 3 years earlier & she suddenly had a bit of a recovery enough for her to still not have started!
When you have no function left at all you last about 2 weeks apparently!
try using E45 itch relief my hubby said that helps a lot!
thank you for your help she has special needs and doesn't understand anything that is happening she can not sit for long periods and been hospilized a few times and try to pull tubes out so that reason no treatment being given had second opinion just said same as her specialist she was at 19 percent and within a cpl weeks had dropped to 9.
That must be very very stressful for you
it is very difficult situation for you you don't know what to do for the best do you?
my thoughts go with you x
thank you yes very stressful situation not to clever on medical things but my daughter doctors told me her calcium level is 1.8 can you tell me if this a good level or bad one
I'm sorry to hear your daughter had a bad night. Itchyness, I have been told, can be a result of ckd. I find it gets worse as the day goes on and an extra shower, a scrub down with a sponge and a nice moisturiser do the trick for me.
When my sister was quite poorly, and in hospital we wanted to know exactly what to expect and asked the doctors lots of questions. There were times when they really didn't know, and the best advice we were given was to 'just take one day at a time'.......
It helped us to see things in small chunks and made helping her more manageable.
I hope things go well for your daughter and for yourself.
