Infection or Not

Firstly, I do not have CKD. I have Lupus and Heart Failure and have a Pacemaker. Use to get UTI’s all the time, have been hospitalized 3 times with Kidney Infections, but have been pretty good in that department for several years. 12 days ago I started having some burning with urination, very frequent trips to bathroom with little output. So, of course checked my urine (have dip sticks just for such an occasion), showed lots of Leukocytes but no Nitrites. Drank lots of water next morning repeat of same results - felt fine and the burning stopped in afternoon. Next morning lots of Nitrites and some Leukocytes so then went to hospital for fix. Within a few days all looked good so carried on and finished prescription. Have felt fine - not usual UTI. So two days ago it starts again - lots of Leukocytes no bacteria then clear then bacteria no Leukocytes.

I have an already scheduled appointment with GP for next week, don’t really want to go back to hospital if I can avoid it, so watching for now. I don’t understand what is going on , wondering if anyone has any ideas on this?? Maybe infection or just inflammation. Forgot to say that I do have Microhematuria (for about 20 years) which showed a lot stronger during this.

Thank you for any information,

It could be any number of things and I can't diagnose. I would stay well hydrated and await seeing your GP if you can. Did they do a urinalysis when you went to the hospital

We cannot diagnose on this site., only speak from our own experience. I would follow the advise from HealthBuddyMelissa and keep yourself hydrated till your appointment. Sorry you are having all of these issues.

I understand that we do not diagnose, I was just looking for perhaps someone that had a similar experience and where it went from there.

Sorry, but most everyone on this site has CKD, is on dialysis or has had a transplant. That is probably why no one has responded to you.

Hope it goes well when you see your GP!

Hi there , I would try a different antibiotic just call the gp and ask for a phone appointment they can send another script for a broad spectrum antibiotic, the last thing you want is for the antibiotic to not work because it’s a different bug. I have the same issue I am resistant as I have had several kidney infections in the past.

Not what you're looking for?
