New Test Results - With A Question

I just got back my results from my latest urine and renal blood test. I was very happy to see that my creatinine level had dropped from .96 to .87! My BUN is 11. My potassium, calcium, sodium and phosphorus are all within normal limits. However, on 24-hour urine my urine creatinine clearance is low at 65 (normal is 75-140) I am a 70-year-old white female so I don’t know if that’s just normal for an aging woman. I did cut back on my salt intake, lowered my protein, cut out most meat except for occasional chicken or fish and have been walking for a half an hour every day.

My eGFR is now above 60 from 57 two months ago, so I suppose that’s good news that I’m in stage 2 instead of stage 3. Hallelujah!!

I’m pleased about the drop in creatinine and rising eGFR but I’m still a little concerned about my urine creatinine clearance being below normal. Any thoughts or insights??

Thank you ...God bless all. 😊

Do you have blood or protein in your urine? how was the ultrasound?

Ultrasound was normal.

No blood and insignificant protein.

I think you are doing great, u don't have to be worried tbh, it's all related to ageing and I think you don't have CKD either. it's just my opinion as I have read a lot of researches and studies through various approved websites.

I wish you a good and happy life :)

Just reading your reply gave me a sense of assurance...I really have been panicked over my kidney function for the past four months when I first saw a eGFR of 57 on a routine blood test and read it was Stage 3 kidney disease!! I went ballistic and did nothing but research for days on end (and a LOT of praying!) I saw a nephrologist in May and he ordered the kidney ultrasound, 24-hour urine and renal panel...I see him again next Thursday to get his assessment. At the time of my first visit he told me to stop all my supplements and cut back on protein but didn't seem very concerned.

I went on a restricted diet of low sodium, potassium and protein (mainly plant protein), and it has been difficult as I am eating mainly fruits and vegetables with very occasional chicken or fish, and no dairy (which I love and miss my daily yogurt and cheese) But if it is helping my kidneys I'll continue but not very happily. 😒

So I am encouraged by the latest test results and hopefully it will continue in this positive trend.

I have read several articles online from different medical sites saying that aging kidneys can have similar decline in eGFR as CKD patients but it really isn't the same thing...I hope that's the case with me.

Your response post was very encouraging! Thank you so much ❤️ And blessings to you! 😊
