Is this CKD?

Hello everyone and I would just like to say that I am new to the community so forgive me if I commit any mistakes in this post.

If my post is a bit unnecessarily long, please just skip ahead.

About 3 years ago, I had a check up which led me me getting an ultrasound of my kidneys. The doctor said that my kidneys were mostly fine apart from they were a bit larger than normal for my age. She said it could be because I'm fairly large for my age at that time but suggested that I should avoid holding my urine in.

About a year ago I noticed I had foamy urine. It was at it's worst in the morning to sometimes to point where it looks like someone soaped the toilet. I assume thats due to the lack of hydration through the night so I decided to drink more water and had the urge to urinate more often. But at this time, I'm not sure if my urge to urinate is because of a condition or because of my anxiety.

Fast forward to now, 16 yrs old, I notice a reduction in the foam in my urine but I have a weird feeling in my back like something is swollen. I've had a similar feeling back when I first theorized about my condition but it never really occured again after that till now. It doesn't hurt but it's a bit uncomfortable and messes with my posture.

Are these symptoms of early CKD or perhaps another kidney disorder?

I'm wondering if anybody experienced something close to this at my age and what are my chances for recovery.

I'm just looking for some prior advice about the condition before I ask my parents for a check up.

Also, I read that muscle usage increases the pressure on the kidneys so should I discontinue my workouts. I'm currently training for muscle growth

HI ErtaLiera,

There is no way from a post to be able to tell you what if anything is happening to your kidneys. You will have to have labs done to check your kidney function. The bubbles you see does not always mean there is a issue, and since you have seen a reduction, it may have been just an anomaly. And... if you drink more water, you will have to urinate more.

You say you are working out. You may have pulled or strained a muscle. You do not say how much exercise you are doing. There is a correlation with INTENSE exercise and kidney function. One of the most common is more protein in your urine, which will produce the foam you mention.

Talk to your parents if you think there is something wrong with your kidneys so you can have lab work done if necessary.

Hi,

Instead of conjecturing about the condition of your kidneys, go and have a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel blood test, as well as a urinalysis. That will give you the data you need to evaluate your situation. Anything else is just guesswork.
