KFT results- phosphoruslevels
Well as you can see on the copy of the chart you posted, your are a tad on the high side. You write your result is 4.9, but if you look at your chart you are at 4.8, not 4.9. And the "normal" range is up to and including 4.7! So your are just .1 outside of "normal". Now also this "normal" range does not take into consideration that age also affects what is "normal". The range for a 20 year old is different than that of a 60 year old, but the chart just reports up to 4.7 for all. So should you panic! Absolutely not! You should look at your diet and see if you are eating things that are higher in phosphorus, and reduce or eliminate them. If you reduce your intake of meat, poultry, fish, nuts, beans, dairy products, chocolate, whole grains, and egg yolks. For example a typical large egg contains 95mg of phosphorus. Remove the yolk and it is only 5mg. Vitamin D will help to reduce phosphorus so ask your doctor if you should perhaps include this into your daily routine. Don't just do it on your own. Ask him/her first.
Thanks for the reply. I am 34 years old. Also a diabetic but have controlled diabetics using lchf diet. And never has my hba1c gone off the limit till date. Eggs are wat I always eat for bf. Will check my doctor once. Was so stressed ....
Do you know what levels would ascertain very high....
Each lab has slightly different ranges it considers normal. If you search on the internet for what is normal range you will see it says up to 4.5. However your particular lab report indicates that their normal range is up to 4.7. You were .1 above "normal". So are you too high? Yes. Is it very high? Being outside the normal range by .1 can hardly be considered very high. And you and your doctor will want to take steps to get it back to normal range. Dietary at first I would imagine. I would think our doctor will advise you to watch your intake. Wait until the next blood test and see if you got it back to normal range. You are right to pay attention but do not become obsessed by this .1 above normal range and spend all your days worrying and investigating "what if's". All your more critical numbers (creatinine, etc.) were well within normal ranges. You are just more than likely consuming too much phosphorus. Cut out that egg yolk every day of your life. Relax. All looks well. And your doctor would be yelling at you if there were a problem.
You can see the acceptable range in the report. You are above this range. So you might need to cut down on high phosphorous foods and drinks which is very difficult to do with the vast majority of processed foods having added phosphorous as well as meat and dairy. I would do this on my own. The other values you give seem in the normal range. You don't show the eGFR though. Was that over 59?
