I am having problems with my electrolytes being low. Especially my potassium. I have to take a diuretic. It’s supposed to be potassium sparing, but I still have issues.
I was prescribed potassium pills.
I, am unable to take them, the side effects are horrible.
I try to eat a banana everyday. But, that is not enough.
My PC also thinks it may be a magnesium deficiency.
Now, I am trying coconut water.
Has anyone else had success balancing your electrolytes with coconut water?

Too bad you have to take diuretic. That is the first medication my doctors stopped for me when I became CKD. They say it is bad. But if it is necessary for other purposes, then it must be taken. For Potassium, I too was at first told mine was too low. Banana's were urged, but again these are supposedly bad for CKD (although I think that is for people who have high potassium). To "fix" my potassium I was advised to start taking a once a day multivitamin. AND what really gave me great improvement was yogurt daily. You know, one of those small servings of yogurt. This small serving provides 11% of the required daily potassium. I have one daily, sometimes two (in the hot summer it is a treat). Try it.
