Why am I so pale?
Hi Bee28
I suggest that if you feel anaemic that you have a chat with you doctor who can take a blood test to check your haemoglobin and iron levels. Also they can do full blood test to check everything else is ok. Your doctor or specialist can advise re medications or supplements if needed, as some vitamins and supplements may not be safe for CKD. Hope this helps.

As the nurse suggests, have a test. I will mention, in my case, which does not mean it will be the same for you. My first visit to the kidney doctor was told "stop taking all supplements". That is testing shows I was deficient in any way then we would address it naturally not with pills. For example, if calcium was low, we would increase dairy products.
I have similar numbers and last month was very anemic. Had to have iron infusion. Get your blood work every 3-6 mos, see your Nephrologist. Good Luck.
Yes definitely, like all have said, you need to be telling your doctor about feeling anemic. He will check to see if you are anemic with a blood test. When I was in CKD, I was anemic and got weekly shots of "Procrit" to help. When in CKD your kidneys aren't telling your bone marrow to produce more red blood cells.....thus anemia.
I have had a kidney transplant 19 years ago and am doing great.
