Does anyone have constant back pain from ckd?

If so, what have you done to alleviate the constant pain.

I am ckd 3 gfr 54.

Where is your pain; is it there all the time; and how bad is it? I've had a similar problem but it would appear I have arthritis. Giving rise to another problem because constant pain killers and CKD are not compatible!

My pain is in my upper back, has since moved a bit to the lower back.

It’s more like a spasm or tightness. It used to come and go now it’s constant.

I have previously had a back injury but this feels totally different.

I was prescribed potassium supplements because I take hp pills and diuretics, but I have not been taking them.

I am going to see if the supplements help.

My last lab was 3.5, right on the borderline.

I have arthritis and CKD level 3. It can be a challenge as cannot take NSAIDS. I use a Salon Pas or equivalent part of time and also an arthritis cream, when do not use the Salon Pas.

I'm surprised as from what my nephrologist said, you usually do not experience symptoms until much later. In saying that, my GFR is usually between 28 and 30 and I've had middle back pain for a year now. My GFR has never been over 30 since 2012. I believe each person is individualized when it comes to how our bodies react. I also have metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance (not diabetes).

Hi Margie, yes that's one of the symptoms along with extreme tiredness. I've just got used to it. I find standing too long makes it worse.

I am egfr 22.

I initially had anemia and was exhausted.

I have been taking iron supplements for two months and that has helped a lot.

Feeling better since I'm eating more than I was initially (lost over 20 lbs in less than 3 mos) Stage 3 was such a shock I was scared to eat. Less shocked now, but concerned with cloudy mess in urine. Is there a medication to help specifically?

I know it's protein and I'm eager to do new bloodwork & see the nephrologist before the end of June. Eating better has helped me feel stronger.
