draftee any thoughts on this

My blood work showed a creatinine level of 1.62 mg/dl, My urine is bubbly and foamy, I can not get in to see a kidney doctor until the first week in march, My family doctor told me it would be okay to wait until then. I had prostate cancer treated with 42 radiation treatments and they got rid of the cancer, That was about 8 years ago.......

Hi Draftee,

Just my thoughts...

Call your family doctor as well as the oncologist who treated you for the cancer and ask for the names of several nephrologists. See if either can expedite an appointment.

Even if you just google nephrologists in your area, call and see the first available person as they will do a preliminary assessment.

If March is still the first available, ask that you be put on a cancellation list, if they have an opening, they will call you.

The larger the practice, there should be more physician choices. Remember that you don't have to stay with any one doctor.

Stay positive and advocate for yourself!

Let us know how you make out!

We care and are behind you!

Excellent advice Bet117. I have a website that will help everyone. Plug in the specialty and your area and get the name of all doctors in that area and see reviews from patients. The final choice will still be yours. The site is healthgrades.com

Thanks for the kudos, Mr. _K!

I return the compliment! and hope that Draftee gets results asap!

Web MD will also show patient reviews.

Once you get the name of a physician, google the name and read/scroll.

BTW, Hope all is well with you, Mr._K..Have missed you!

Will have to catch up at some point! I have a whopper of an Atorvastatin story to tell you.

Draftee, keep positive!.

Best..

Thanks Bet 117

I am a retiree on a fixed income and my family doctors office got me this appointment, They made sure he accepted my health insurance, I can not afford to pay out of pocket and I did the cancelation thing, Would you happen to know if it makes any difference if foamy urine bubbles disappear quickly or stay on the surface for a longer time ?......Thank you for your reply and for your advice,

Hi Draftee,

Hang in there! It will all be good.

You are very welcome for the support; just throwing out ideas.

I would keep the appointment that your doctor set up for you, but if you want to get in earlier and find someone, just ask if they take your insurance and go from there. I sought a second opinion, but made sure that they accepted my insurance. It is not easy!

As far as the bubbles,I am no expert; it could mean a number of things or nothing..protein in the urine could generate bubbles and it could be unrelated.

I would make a list of questions and call your family doctor as he/she is taking care of you and should be willing to work with you and hopefully put your mind at ease.

Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing.

I care..

Hi Bet 117

Once again thank you for your kind words and advice. I did call my doctor because I had a urine test that showed protein in my urine and about the foamy urine, I never get to talk to him on the phone, His receptionist is a go between and delivers the questions and the answers, He seems unconcerned about my 1.62 mg/dl creatinine level and still says its okay to wait to see the doctor he recommended, He did say until then just to drink more water and he took me off a water pill I had been taking for years, It was hydrochlorothiazide...........Thank you for your concern,,,,,
