Hi. Am new to this site and joined due to my partner being diagnosed with stage 4 CKD, for info he is also type 2 diabetic and has high blood pressure, both of which he has had for 20 years. He has been warned off of paracetamol and ibuprofen but is in pain in his kidneys at times. When he was seen at the hospital they told him one he could take but he can't remember the name of it. Could I ask what you all take for pain and is it a prescribed tablet or available over the counter. Thank you 🙂

He shouldn't take anything metabolized by the kidneys (aspirin, ibuprofen, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, etc). It's best to ask the nephrologist or at least the pharmacist before taking any meds. I only use acetaminophen, which doesn't help much.
I'm at Stage 4 and am told not to take anything containing aspirin
or use any rubs for arthritic pain, but I can take paracetamol.
I am a Stage 4 CKD and Type 2 Diabetic and the doctor gave me Oxycodone for pain. My Nephrologist told me that was the only thing she could prescribe that would be safe.
