Artificial sugars

One of the many bits of advice my GP gave me is to avoid artificial sugars. I know what these are....Aspartame, sorbitol etc. Wondered if Stevia was artificial ? Or if Sucralose is?

Hard to know too what 'avoid' means..... I have a fridge full of low fat yoghurt sweetened with aspartame. Oh well..... R

Stevia is natural, from the leaves of a plant, so you'd be OK with that.

Very interested to hear why your GP said to avoid artificial sweeteners. We try to avoid Aspartame, as there have been several articles linking it with joint problems.

My husband is Type 2 diabetic, so we have lots of sugar free things. In the last year he has been told he has CKD stage 3, & at one point dipped into stage 4. He was on lots of medication, as he also has heart problems, & he has been taken off some of the diabetic tablets, as they are bad for kidneys.
