Hi everyone, ive just been told i have mild chronic kidney disease, stages 1and 2. I have recently had a baby and while I was pregnant I had Gestational Diabetes.I had a routine blood test and i had a high level of creatinine in my blood. Ive been monitored since July 2014 and I still have high levels of creatinine. I do not have any medical history and I have had a sonograph of my kidneys done which all results were normal. The reason why im writing is that Im feeling a bit anxious. Im not sure what to do now. I know i have to loose weight and thats what Im aiming to do but I just dont know how to deal with this. I dont know if im over reacting. Does anyone feel this way?

Like you after having my third child I had stage 2/3 kidney failure. 17 years later iv have a 3 way swap kidney transplant. But if you are over weight then loosing it will help and eating healthy and exercise. Also a low salt diet will help but dietitian's at your clinic will be able to give you advice as well. Hopefully you'll have many years before needing dialysis or a transplant. Or maybe never. Look after your kidneys
Hi there
It is completely normal to feel the way you do. It is always a shock when you find out something is wrong. The most important things to do are to look after your self and not stress. Keep your blood pressure under good control around 125/70. Don't take any anti inflammatory drugs at all they are all bad for kidneys, that's ibuprofen, diclofenac, naproxen or any of the others in tablet or in cream form. Avoid salt and if you do use a little make sure it is natural sea salt. If you can cut out meat on 1 day a week to rest the kidneys.
I have had kidney disease for 30 years, I am in stage 4 and am still working part time and reasonably healthy at 57 years old. Hope this helps and I am glad you found this site for support and help.
best wishes
Christine
Thank you for your replies. I will definitely look after my kidneys. The doctor did not give me much info but because my kidneys are stable condition they will give me yearly appointments to keep an eye on my kidneys. I wish you all the best with your health.
Hello. At stage 1 and 2 you dint have to woiry. Look after yourself and eat healthily. It all deoends on whether you have a kidney disease or not. I have renal failure BUT NOT disease. I was at stage 2 for over 15 years! Mine only changed to stage 4 due to an i fection that i ignored as i thought it would go away and i have been at this stage for 5 years niw. So, please dont worry. Go ahead with your life and just live a healthy lufe style. There are some oeoole waljing round with stage 3 and thry dint even know it xx keep us up to date with your appointments x
