Hi Raffles, my GFR is 25% and I have only 1 kidney left, and I am at stage 4. so going by that I should think you don't have too much to worry about but I don't know all the facts so you should really get professional advice, do you not have a specialist that you could ask, I have to see mine every 4 months, for him to keep an eye on me. If you don't have one ask your G.P. to refer you to one, or at least to a kidney unit where you can get more information. Good Luck.

Hi

My gfr is 21 at present and I too have this symptom.

I hear a lot about doctors refusing to associate various symptoms with CKD, when a simple Internet search will bring up this information from reputable renal support sites. Can't understand why doctors do this. It certainly doesn't help the patient, not being believed.

My only advice is to be persistent with your opinion or change your doctor.

Good luck with things....

The best thing you can do is see a consultant and dietician at you local hospital , for monitoring purposes at your level they will probably want to see you once a year , but a dietician can help advise you which foods in your diet to cut back on to prolong the life of your kidney function . As a rule reduce salt in your diet to keep your blood pressure down . Reduce processed foods, coffee , cola's and high potassium content foods in your diet are basic rules .
