As I am border line diabetic I would be grateful for any recipes that take into consideration low fat and carbs. I am trying hard to lose weight and my goal is to lose two stone. I look forward to trying out any new food ideas you may like to share. In turn if I find a recipe that is successful I will post it so you can all benefit.
With a name road runner, I am guessing you will know the worth of a balanced diet and also of exercise. That said, my wife is a wizard cook who makes the best scones and cakes in all of the World. Malt loaf using a whole wheat flower and malt extract and NO SUGAR is a very good sugar free cake that is scrumptious. She makes scones with Sucron and says that a very small knob of butter in an omelette is necessary to help the eggs from sticking to the pan. Sugar free jellies, custard with Sucron, no grilling, cut of all excess fat from meat, eat salmon on a weekly basis and at least six pieces of fruit a day. You can also get low sugar yogurt and M&S and no doubt others, sell low calorie meals under 400 calories and as low as 280. Ryvita with ham or fish or fruit is also nice and crispy. Belvita breakfast biscuits are also good and are slow release energy food. Fresh veg and salads, baked potatoes and baked beans are all good food with a baked spud. Nothing fried, no white bread, no salt and nothing you know is fattening. I could be very realistic and say to you that ANYTHING that goes into the mouth has the potential to make one fat - it is up to you to be strong and to keep to it. In just one year and using the contents here, I was able to lose 7.5 stone with a result that I now take no insulin, no Metformin and have completely reversed my Diabetes with no diabetic complications at all. I now weigh in at a trim 11 stone for my height of 5.8" and if I can do it, then anyone can - I can say with hand on heart that I never once felt I was missing out and did have Meal Treats like going out for a special meal for Anniversary but kept the portions sensible and did not have roast potatoes but did have boiled new potatoes. My regime was thought through by ourselves and done to suit us and seriously just watched the weight fall off. The only problem was the continuing purchase of ever shrinking clothes........Go for it - it will feel great when you reach your goal. There is just one point - that we are all different and I for one cannot eat oranges as it sends my BS through the roof. I have no idea why so I just bypass that fruit.
Oh, I am full of hope after reading your very positive post. and congratulations on your weight loss. There was such a lot of common sense in your post and yes, it is up to us to reach our goals in the best way we can. Thank you.
My sincerest thoughts are with you to achieve your goal. I always try and remember a man who was England's fattest man - Daniel Lambert. He gave his body to medicine and his skeleton had been studied for stresses and strains but one thing did scream out to the world - there was no difference to the size of his skeleton and anyone eases. So the argument that "I have big bones" is absolutely laughable. Just take a look at the horrible photographs of some German or Japanese prisoners of war who were starved and mistreated - not a big bones person there! Let us know how you get on please. I recorded by weight loss on a spreadsheet so I could see how good or bad I was doing - it really did help.
Once again your post features a very factual piece of information which is certainly food for thought.
I have been jotting down my weight loss but your suggestion of a spread sheet is a very good idea. I can see myself getting frustrated if there is an increase rather than a loss of weight. But seeing it recorded will encourage me to try harder and be more aware how easy it is to slip off the wagon. Just going to plan my main meal of the day. Thanks again.
Weโve had a request for carb content if possible. So if you know the carbohydrate content of a recipe please add it. Please donโt worry if you donโt know. Thank you.
