Just one question : How many grams of carbs is a T2 diabetic allowed to consume per day??? Got many different answers recently, but am slated for my first 2019 A1c test at the end of this month and I have the feeling that my numbers will be through the roof as I haven't paid any attention to my food intake over the festive season.
Thanks for your answers and I wish you all the best of health for the next 12 months and beyond.

If you have several days before test it might help to cut out most carbs - I would eat a slice of melon for breakfast or have an apple. For lunch I would have meat fish or cottage fish and tomatoes, salad, green veg non root -and for supper, I would have omelette green vegs and some strawberries. I would have a quarter of a pint milk a day and at least one piece of fruit a day. Removing cereals grain and excess dairy will cut down your sugar levels. I know how you feel - it has taken several days to get my sugar level down after Christmas !
I like steak mushrooms and green veg or home made vegetable soup with leeks a carrot a potato as it's filling. I don't count grams of carbs - I just avoid them as far as possible.
I can eat oats which can lower blood sugar - I mix 2oz with a dried apricot or chopped apple as a muesli.
